Next, you'll have to park ($12), then get from the parking lot to the Transportation and Ticket Center plaza to buy your tickets if you don't buy ahead of time, then ride either the monorail or the ferry boat over to the actual entrance to the park. It's a good four or five extra miles after you get off the interstate, depending on which Disney exit you take. is the "furtherest" distance to drive from I-4 exits due to it's location on the Disney property. You'll need extra time to get to Magic Kingdom for several reasons. When you do get there, head to Fantasyland first and ride Dumbo as early as possible, as this is the slowest que line in that section of the park. It also gets you there at the "least crwoded" time of day, especially for the ride the children would ride. Magic Kingdom has a wonderful "opening ceremony" you really need to see, so getting there before the park opens is really a nice thing. You'll want to avoid going on Thurday and Monday, as those days will be more crowded at that park. If you can "hold off" that long, Wednesday is the best day of the week to visit Magic Kingdom for the lowest crowd levels. I'm guessing you're headed for Magic Kingdom with children that young. There is no other public transportation to southern Yosemite.The good news is that September isn't all that crowded at the theme parks on a weekday, so arriving later in the morning might be an option. The Grand Tour ( not operating in 2023), an all-day tour starting in Yosemite Valley, also includes a visit to the Mariposa Grove. The frequency of stops on this route is limited, so plan accordingly. Arrive by mid-morning to increase chances of finding a place to park.įrom approximately May through September a YARTS bus travels through the southern corridor of the park with a stop near South Entrance, providing access to the grove via the shuttle. The welcome plaza has about 300 parking spaces and may fill up by late morning. The shuttle operates from April through mid-October, conditions permitting. From the welcome plaza, you'll take the free shuttle into the grove. To visit the grove, park at the Mariposa Grove Welcome Plaza near South Entrance. If you are planning a day trip to southern Yosemite, you might be looking to visit the Mariposa Grove. Once all parking in Yosemite Valley is full, you may be redirected to other areas (which will also have limited parking). Do not create a new roadside or off-road parking space violators may be towed and/or cited. If you have lodging or campground reservations, park your car at your lodge or campground. Walk, bike, or use the free shuttle to get around Yosemite Valley. If you find a parking space, plan to leave your car there you will not be able to find another parking spot. If you arrive early, parking is available at Yosemite Village, Curry Village, and near Yosemite Falls. It may also not be possible to travel beyond El Capitan to drive to eastern Yosemite Valley. If you arrive after 8 am on weekends-especially Saturdays and holiday weekends-be prepared for multiple delays followed by inability to find a place to park. If you are planning to visit Yosemite Valley by car from spring through fall, arrive before 8 am, after which parking is usually full. Traffic in Yosemite Valley can back up for miles once parking lots fill. Consider visiting gateway communities and their visitor centers in Mariposa, Groveland, Mono County, and Oakhurst. Bring plenty of food and water for potential delays and stop and use restrooms when they are available.You may need to wait for multiple buses to go by before one has space for you.
